Is the alliance size cap really a problem?

Just want to mention that the 100 size cap for alliances in Illyriad is just an illusion Twisted Evil. We can just create more alliances, join them all in a confederation, and manage things globally on this forum. It's not such a big a deal. So we can pursue an aggressive expansion policy, especially attracting new players that are more likely to enjoy a democratic environment. Of course, creating new alliances costs a few bucks and we need some large players, and a Senate for that matter, to coordinate things and defend.

So let us not be affraid of greatness!

As Nilac has pointed out that creating sister alliances is way to bypass the 100 member rule..
I think there are some important things which should be kept in mind while doing this (I am just writing the outline here)

1.The alliance members should preferably settle in a hub.It is then easier to arrive at a basis on which players will be allocated alliance within the confed (eg.Players having majority of their cities in SE elgea will join TOR SE while those in NW will join TOR NW)

2.The second most important thing is to maintain proper line of communication.While this forum is great,my experiences in my last 2 alliances have convinced me that things aren't this simple when you have 50+ active members and other alliances have planted spies within your ranks.

3.The creation of specialist groups within the alliance can help with the growth in a more efficient way.For this I propose creating different user groups on the basis of their primary interest/target in this game (military/trade/harvesting and crafting)

4.TOR-U shouldn't be neglected at anytime. It can and should serve as the driving force behind our emerging alliance.

Thank you for your thoughts. I think we have adressed most of the issues. I particularly agree concerning the importans of TOR-U! Also we should start another hub debate in the Senate.

Before we talk about starting a sister alliance we should consider getting as many active members in TOR. Right now there are plenty of members in TOR who NEVER do anything. Somebody needs to think of a way to fix that.

The Elgean Republic consists of more than one alliance. In a sense, TOR already has sister alliances.

Max allaince of 100 members

Hi everyone!
My thoughts on this is actually two fold. Max membership of 100, can be limiting. Communication, leadership, and team effort is EASIER in one allaince with less chance of miscommunication, misinterpretation... It is also difficult to find strong leaders for separate "wings " of an alliance. That being said, while we are limited, so is everyone else. How big do we WANT H? and others to be anyway??? if they could have 200 members I am sure that they would already be there. Also, all alliances have members that are ..not very active. I constantly remind myself that this is a game, and try to allow some leniency on this. This brings us to the problem of .. confeds or naps or "silent" agreements between allainces. It is going to happen no matter what. Having gone through a couple wars, finding confeds that actually support with TROOPS is not an easy thing to find. My overall opinion ... am ok with the 100 limitation... build strong relationships with a FEW other allainces that we can depend on for support... and keep communications open..
